Up 32 Pts on New Year’s Eve; China Res Beer is Best Performing Blue Chip 

Today is the New Year's Eve, which is a half-day trading day. Hang Seng Index opened up 10 pts to 21,892 this morning and traded in a narrow range with a volatility of 106 pts. The benchmark index last stood at 21,914, up 32 pts. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index added 1 pt to 9,661. The market turnover amounted to $24.679 billion. 

For 2015, Hang Seng Index has tumbled 7.2% or 1,690 pts. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index has collapsed 2,323 pts or 19.4%. Heavyweight HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) slid 0.4%. CHINA MOBILE (00941.HK) added 0.2%. TENCENT (00700.HK) climbed 1.2%. HKEX (00388.HK) faded 0.4%. Shenzhen Stock Exchange said that it will put effort in launching Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect as soon as possible. CHINA RES BEER (00291.HK) leaped 4.1%, being the best performing blue chip. 

BANK OF E ASIA (00023.HK) rose for three consecutive days with an increase of 3%. Oil prices continued the downtrend. CNOOC (00883.HK) and PETROCHINA (00857.HK) dropped 1.6% and 1.2%. SINOPEC CORP (00386.HK) edged down 0.6%. Commodity prices plunged. STANCHART (02888.HK) recorded a decrease of 1.4%. Chinese developers outperformed. CHINA OVERSEAS (00688.HK) and CHINA RES LAND (01109.HK) soared 1.9% and 2.7%.
